Jiaxi Li

Jiaxi Li is a piano teacher based in China. She received the Education Contribution Award at the 9th German Wiesbaden International Piano Competition Asia Pacific regional competition in 2023 and was recognized as an Excellent Mentor at the 3rd Yamaha National Piano Competition in 2022.

Says Li: It's an honor to be a part of this environmental project; this piece is wonderful. To raise awareness of global issues such as the climate crisis, world wars, political instability, and pandemics, American composer Brian Field has created a solo piano cycle called "Three Passions for our Tortured Planet." The work consists of three movements, each representing three areas of climate change.

The part I'm playing here is “Glaciers,” and as the global climate warms, the glacier melts away, and the whole thing presents a beautiful and majestic melting of the glacier.
