Evelyn Hilschmann
Evelyn Hilschmann is known for her openness to all musical styles, from Baroque to Rock, and for the clear authenticity with which she performs various works. She sees herself as a “musical translator” of historical music into the modern era, as demonstrated in her 2012 CD “Bach meets Jazz” (ARS-PRODUCTION).
At the age of 5, Evelyn Hilschmann received her first official piano lesson, having previously been taught by her mother. At 16, she was admitted as a pre-student to the Karlsruhe Music Conservatory and studied there under Prof. Sontraud Speidel. That same year, she made her debut at the Karlsruhe Concert House with the Piano Concerto in A major KV 414 by W.A. Mozart with the orchestra of the Music Conservatory.
She continued her studies with Prof. Bernd Glemser and regularly participated in masterclasses by renowned artists such as Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Dinorah Varsi, Jean-Phillipp Collard, Vitaly Margulis, Andrei Jaszinski and Alexander Braginsky. She also played with renowned musicians such as Benedikt Klöckner, Oscar Bohorquez and Howard Blake. In 2017, she interpreted Howard Blake’s piano concerto, which he dedicated to Princess Lady Diana for her 30th birthday, several times with an orchestra.
Inspired by the combination of rhythm and melody that is strongly reflected in this piano concerto, the pianist wrote her own works in the crossover style, which she performed with her “Tryo-Composito” as commissioned works.
She won numerous national and international awards and was recognized in 2008 at the International Competition “Ibla Grand Prize” in Sicily for her outstanding interpretation of the work “Three Danzas Argentinas” by Alberto E. Ginastera.
She also recorded numerous works for the Saarland and South German Broadcasting Companies and performed with the Pärnu Symphony Orchestra in 2022 at the Arbo-Valdma Festival in Pärnu in the local Concert Hall. In the same year, she began working with American composer Brian Field, whose award-winning work “Three Passions for our tortured Planet” which she will record on CD in 2023.
