Eunsu Kim
Pianist Eunsu Kim was born in South Korea. She began her first piano lesson at four and learned composition at eleven. She received a music education when she was young but accepted it only as a hobby. She quit piano and dreamed of becoming a historian or geologist. However, she couldn't stop loving music and started learning the piano again when she was 16 years old by entering Busan Arts High School.
She earned her Bachelor of Music in piano performance at Hanyang University. After entering Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, she decided to become a professional pianist. She earned a Master of Music Degree and Performer Diploma on a full scholarship and stipend at Indiana University, under the tutelage of Distinguished Professor André Watts. While studying, She has had master classes with Emanuel Ax, Tanya Gabrielian, Christopher Harding, and Nelita True.
Eunsu has performed as a guest artist and collaborated with many great musicians, especially with many bass trombonists, at numerous venues, including, among others, the University of Washington, Brechemin Auditorium, Indiana University Auditorium, Hanyang University, Soo Art Hall, Global Art Hall, Gimpo Art Center, Geumjoung Art Center, Busan Art Center, Auer Hall, Ford Hall, Recital Hall, and Brown County Art Guild.
She likes learning new things. She has learned harpsichord and fortepiano from Professor Elisabeth Wright, recorder from Professor Clea Galhano, and voice from Ms. Kinabrew. In her free time, she likes decorating something, playing video games, hiking, fishing, painting, and reading books something interesting.
Eunsu will pursue Artist Diploma on a full scholarship and stipend at Indiana University, under the tutelage of Distinguished Professor André Watts, this fall. She teaches undergraduate students by giving group and private classes as an associate Instructor at IU.
