Elena Popa

Elena Popa is a Romanian born Pianist from Timisoara, Romania. She earned her Bachelor of Music Degree at National University of Music Bucharest and Master of Music Degree at “Gheorghe Dima” National Academy of Music Cluj Napoca, the most important academic insititutions in Romania. She benefited from the guidance of the best pianists in Romania, such as Dana Borsan, Sorin Dogariu, Daniel Goiti and Andrei Deleanu. In 2016 she earned her PhD. In Music, under the mentoring of Prof. Dr. Dana Borsan at National Univeristy of Music Bucharest.

She made her debut with orchestra in 1997, at the age of 17, when she performed Concerto no.1 for piano and orchestra by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy with “Oltenia” Philarmonic from Craiova, Romania. She had numerous solo recitals all over Romania, and she was invited to perform in “George Enescu” International Festival. She loves chamber music, and performing with other pianists as duo or with other musicians is a constant of her musical life.

Elena Popa has a prospereous pedagogical career at “Ion Vidu” Music Highschool in Timisoara Romania. Her students are highly appreciated in competitions and concerts. The most recent achievement is the Cristal Throphy of “Clara Peia” International Competition earned by her Student, Maria Eliza Pirvulescu (13 years old), in Lugoj, Romania.

Beside performing and teaching activity, she also has an intensive activity as coordinator of musical projects. She is the project manager of the educational project Concert season for children at “Two Owls” Bookstore where young musicians have the opportunity to perform and to promote clasical music and their school. She also was the organizer of several piano masterclasses in Timisoara, Vera Chistiakova (Russia) and Elisabeth Sombart (Switzerland) being among the invitated pianists.
