Annie Huang

Pianist Annie Ziyao Huang performs as a soloist and chamber musician. Exploring the music of different eras with passion and a desire for authenticity, she has been praised for her interpretations of contemporary piano works (1:2:1 Intensive) as well as historical organ repertoire (Bach Institute, 2019). Recently, she performed at the Puerto Rico International Piano Festival, Emerald Coast Chamber Music Festival, Montecito International Music Festival, NYU Tandon Piano Series, and “Beethoven the Contemporary” festival. She has also been featured with the NYU Baroque Ensemble and Oberlin Contemporary Ensemble. Ms. Huang has a deep affection for collaborative playing; the recipient of Oberlin Conservatory’s Piano Faculty Prize in Accompanying, she believes that the communication among instrumentalists and singers push musicians to a higher realm.

Ms. Huang earned a Bachelor of Music degree as a student of Peter Takács at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she was admitted to the National Music Honor Society, Pi Kappa Lambda. She has participated in masterclasses with artists including Paul Badura-Skoda, Stanislav Ioudenitch, William Naboré, Martino Tirimo, and Andreas Staier. At NYU Steinhardt, she served as an Adjunct Instructor in Piano Studies while completing her dual degree (Master of Music and Advanced Certificate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy), working in the studio of Artist Faculty Member, Eteri Andjaparidze, and she won the Distinguished Contribution Award in Piano Performance and Pedagogy in May 2022. Dedicated to working with children and igniting their passion for music, she has taught at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Agape Music and Arts Center, Anselmo Academy of Music and The Arts, and other music institutions. Ms. Huang has been accepted to begin her Doctor of Musical Arts degree and serve as a Graduate Teaching Assistant of Piano Studies at Pennsylvania State University in Fall 2022, in the studio of Christopher Guzman.
